Essay On Corination Street

Examine the two openings of Corination Street. how have the programme-makers aimed to represent the lives of the people on "the street" and manchester in general through their selection of images.

Firstly there is a huge difference between the titles in the 1960 ones and the 2010 version. The 1960 version is in black and white, and goes on for around 2 minutes, and the newer version in 2010 is in colour and goes on for around 30/40secs.

One of the things that the two opening titles have in common, is that through out the forty years worth of titles, they have both always included the pub the has been in cornination street from the begining, "the rovers return" it shows people standing outside in both and shows that it is a welcoming pub, i also think that it shows that this is a very working class area, as in very upmarket areas, i dont think that there would be a local pub in the middle of the street with people stood outside. Also another thing that the two opening titles have it common, is that all the way through both of them have always had a cat, i feel that this shows that it is a family area, because most areas that have pets are seen to be more family orientated.

One of the main difference in the titles is that in the newer titles, they dont actually focus just on "corination street" in now has scenes from actual manchester, rather than keeping it all about the actual street.
