hollyoaks 8-11-10 0mins - 7mins

I have watched an episode of Hollyoaks, in this part of the drama, there are three main different scenes, this consists of; one a male speaking to a female in a cafe desperately trying to grab her attention, while she then drops the bombshell on him that she knows that he is getting married. The second main scene is of again two people stood in the females kitchen speaking about the man living in a bed and breakfast, they then go on to speak about themselves as a two before the male getting angry and annoyed and wanting to leave, but when he hears the females baby daughter crying upstairs he only feels it is right to go and check on the baby as the women said "she doesn't know how to deal with kids". And in the final scene of the time frame again a male and a female are sat on a table outside of the cafe, speaking out the women's ex husband going under and getting himself into a lot of debt, she begins to feel sorry for him as us as the audience find out she is speaking to his brother.

In the first main scene, it is taken mostly as a two shot, being able to see the both of them moving across screen shot from right to left. It then goes on to use a lot of over the shoulder shots in a row then also showing the reaction shots, this shows us that there is alot of emotion between the two still there in the way that they are looking at each other. Sound in the background is music from the radio or such playing in the cafe and also the faintness of other people present speaking.

Secondly, the scene of the male and female speaking about there relationship is done on a lot of different levels, this creates a sense of uncertainty i feel, also in this scene there is alot of over the shoulder shots, again linking with the reaction shots to show the more and more angry he is getting. the only extra sounds that come in this scene is the crying of the baby which comes through on the baby monitor. At the end of this scene the man storms off in a huff, in a moody sort of arrogant way, this would confirm the stereo type of a male, while the woman again confirms the stereo type of a woman by being alot more quite and petite.

In the final main scene, pretty much the whole of this is preformed as a two shot, so you can see exactly what they are saying to each other and the reactions that they are getting, the only time that this changes is when there is close ups of each when they are saying something important, this is then followed by more over the shoulder shots for the reactions of these close ups. Again the only sound that are in this part are the background noises of people and vehicles from the street.

Over all this part of the programme i feel that you are supposed to get to know what the main problems are in these people lives and get to understand what they are going to do about it.
