a representation is your own take on reality. in media all texts are re-representations. this done for how they want the audiencee to react and then make their own views on whats going on, this can then go on to stereo-types for example, take the youths of today, they can be represented as being in tracksuits, wearing hats and hanging out on street corners dricking cheap beer, but this is not true for all teenagers.
